Focusing on what matters most

Having a lot of things seems to be satisfying for most of us. Nowadays, it’s easier to want more and more (and more) thinking we will never have enough of the things we need in life. Yet no matter how useful and beneficial those things are for a season, it will eventually become a mountain of mess we don't actually need. As a result, the mess in our lives piles up.

Letting Go of the Unnecessary

Oftentimes, we can handle all the things happening around us. But when stressful moments come, the mess around us can accumulate over time. We no longer have the chance to take control of it. Suddenly, unfinished tasks in our calendar start to pile up, our desks become a mountain of stuff, and all our thoughts just become a chaotic mess.

The mess we have hidden

There are some mess in our lives that are easy to deal with. Look around. There are things screaming at us, wanting our attention. Maybe it is something simple like a piece of paper on the floor that we could easily pick up or something that requires much more time like folding our clothes, or something more tedious like cleaning our house.

Avoiding burnout in this outcome driven world

Our lives are filled with deadlines. The things we need to accomplish are never-ending. After we have finished filing our tax returns or submitting our projects in humanities class, we have to do another thing. If it continues as it is, then we will end up getting burnt out.

Seeing through the lens of Gratitude

Afternoons have always been my favorite time of day. It allows me to see the sky's vivid colors, the clouds, and the trees around me. Lately, I've been so stressed about the things I need to do that I never get the chance to go out of my room and enjoy those afternoons. I'm just preoccupied with my responsibilities. I'm just sitting in front of the screen all day.
